Today is Veteran's Day.
Many of our young men and women have given so much for the freedom we enjoy and the pride most of us have in our country.
Below I would like to share with you a tribute that Budweiser and Winter Park gave for one returning Hero, Lt. Chuck Nadd. While it is a touching tribute to one deserving man, it should be dedicated to all of our troops, both men and women. Perhaps you have seen this video. It is worth watching again.
When our troops returned from Vietnam, they were ostracized and made to feel like they had committed crimes. We had many people at that time that ran away to other countries; cowards that couldn't face the draft and service to their country. Many come crawling back with excuses galore of why they wouldn't or couldn't serve. This is a tribute to those that did, that stood up strong and proud.
Veterans are a special group of people, veterans and heroes, and we should be respectful of the experiences they had to go through; past troops as well as current troops, still serving our country. They are performing duties that are assigned to them, not necessarily something they choose to do. Yes, they were and are trained but none of them act on their own. There are people much higher up the chain of command that placed them in those situations. They had to deal with whatever was happening at the time. Now that they have returned home, or will be returning home, let us show them the respect they deserve and our appreciation for their service.
Remember this:
It is because of their bravery and courage that we are able to live in a free country, to have the right to speak, act, and express ourselves, even if we do not agree with that is going on, or maybe, especially if we do not agree with what is going on.
Respect our Veterans, All of them.
This is a different type of chance to make a second impression. When many of these young men and women accepted the call to serve their country, they were impressionable young men and women. They have seen and done things that have changed them forever. They did what they were commanded to do to protect America and our way of life. Let's give them a second chance to make a first impression. Let's show them that we honor them as they deserve to be honored. If it were not for them, America would very likely be a much different place.Let us also honor those that have served before that were not given the respect and honor they deserve. This is our second chance to make a first impression.
All of our Veterans deserve our Respect and Appreciation.
I love the Budweiser Clydesdale commercials. They are such an iconic symbol of what America stands for. They are gentle Giants with such controlled strength and compassion. The commercials are inspirational.
