Punctuation can make a powerful impact. Consider the statements written on the billboard above.
I believe our society does not have to resort to cannibalism. Most Grandpas are good people. I do not think we have to eat them.

This is an example of a situation where you really need to erase and start over.
Many times people try to make a statement but the message can be lost because someone did not proofread what they are trying to get across. Look at the word “excetions”. Is that even a word? No. The word should be “exceptions”. This sign should be removed and rearranged to send the right message.
The Village of Crestwood needs to have someone critique their sign and message prior to publishing it for the world to see. This sign should be removed and rearranged to send the right message.
How are you going to “LOOSE” your car if you do not lock it?
People expect more from their elected officials. Grammatical errors diminish the message you send and can cause people to lose track of the original message you want to impart. It is time to go back to the drawing board and re-create this sign.
Even when a company is trying to sell their product, misspellings stands out in a glaring fashion. In this particular case, it is intentional and aimed at the need to purchase their product, in this case, “Hooked on Phonics”. I am not sure I agree with the misspelling, but it does catch your attention.
